We had a lot large enough for a garden, some chickens and
even a cow. This meant a great deal, as the weekly wage was $11.40. Our rent
was very low and hospital care was only $1.00 per day.
Few people had cars so many things such as meat and ice were peddled door
to door. Photographers also came door-to-door occasionally, as you can see
from the picture below, the felt it was their duty to "Tell it like it was!"
