The children started to school and were soon busy with many activities. All grades attended one school, but it was still much larger than the rural schools where I taught.

Both Joe and Rosalyn were in the May festival the elementary school held one year. Joe performed his part with no problems, but Rosalyn stepped on a bee the afternoon before the festival and had to hobble though her dance.

Easter egg hunts and Valentine parties were among the highlights of their school years.
