I started
this piece on January 1, 2000, and completed it on December
31, 2000. The original
instructions called a more neutral fabric, but at the suggestion
of a Sharon Ayers (DIMommie), I chose a 28ct navy blue which
evenweave making the piece a bit more dramatic. The earth, planets,
angel
faces,
and words are all done over one creating a more detailed effect.
The
framing
was done by Dan Melvin of
Matte Ink . After agonizing over how to matte this piece,
Dan finally asked if I really wanted to do a matte at all.
As an alternative,
he created a small shadow box effect by wrapping the fabric
around a spacer. This lifts the glass off the piece and protects
the beeds
from being crushed.
