Return to Crossett and Rodeo
Roy decided to retire a second time as his voice and eyes
were both making it hard to keep preaching. Rosalyn wanted to move to a
smaller town, so the three of us moved back to Crossett in August of 1975.
Like all other places, Crossett has changed during the years, but it I still
a pretty town. Since the sawmill is gone it may not still be the "forestry
capital of the south," but there are many beautiful trees that we like in
spite of the leaves to rake.
The annual rodeo is still a big event in town. We live a block away from
the rodeo grounds so Roy and Rosalyn don't even have to worry about finding
a place to park when they go. A big brahma always seemed to charge the fence
just in front of me the few times I have gone, so I just stay home!
My sister, Lillian, moved to Crossett in the fall of 1978. She soon made
many new friends and was as "at home" here as we have always been. We miss
her very much since illness forced her to move back to Fort Smith to be
near her children.
