Roy and Fannie Wedding
I was spending the weekend with friends in McCrory and visiting with
Roy when we decided to get married. There was no waiting period or blood
test required, just a license, someone to perform the ceremony and witnesses.
The deputy clerk was a friend so he issued the license although it was Saturday.
Roy woke a preacher up at seven Sunday morning to perform the ceremony,
and the friends I was visiting were witnesses.
Although I was dressed to go back to my school, Roy said, "You belong
to me now, so no more teaching." That was before "obey" was taken out of
the ceremony, so I resigned my $90 a month job.
We went to Conway to see my family and get the rest of my clothes before
we moved to the farm with Roy's dad and two sisters.
